ABOUT US

We're based in Whistler, Canada, a host city for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and home to countless world-class athletes.

But we will travel the world, physically and digitally, to bring the Runner's Yoga Program to you, wherever you are!

To that end, we're working hard on the Runner's Yoga Illustrated Manual (first draft finished!) which we plan to make available in digital format along with the CD, Practice Card, and Home-Practice Program. That way, you'll be able to practice safely on your own.

Until then, we hope you can make it to one of our workshops.

The Runner's Yoga Program was developed by Van Powel, who has been teaching advanced health and fitness techniques to clients like the Canadian National Snowboard Team, the National Freestyle Team, professional coaches, and corporations like VISA and Intrawest since 1996.



An avid runner from an early age, he says, “I’ve always loved running, but after two knee operations I almost had to call it quits. The only reason I can still run is because of the Runner's Yoga Program; it took me 10 years to develop and I use every single component myself."
 


Van graduated as top student in an intensive Registered Psychiatric Nurse program,  and spent years in Asia studying yoga, martial arts, meditation and Ayurveda.  He blends this experience of western medicine and eastern practices into a unique mind-body approach.


Known for his light-hearted, practical teaching style, Van has been doing yoga for 30 years, has trained with some of the world's finest Ashtanga yoga instructors, and taught thousands of his own students. He lives with his wife of 35 years in Whistler, Canada. 
 

 

PRIVATE SESSIONS


Van is available for a limited number of private sessions.

Call or email for individual and group rates.

On Fridays at 5:30 you can find him at The Core in Whistler, teaching a fun, one-hour class using using a variety of approaches.

4. STICK IT TO YOUR MUSCLES AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. (Use The®Stick)


5. STRETCHING IS NOT A WARMUP.


6. AVOID TRAUMA RUNNING; Sometimes Less Is More.


7. CHANGE YOUR TIRES REGULARLY. (Check Your Shoes!)
